What is floatation?

Floatation is a method of attaining deepest levels of relaxation and rest. You float effortlessly in a tank filled with 600 litres and 500kg salt of Epsom salt for about 90 minutes or so. The floatation pod provides complete sensory deprivation for physical and mental relaxation.

What effects does sensory deprivation and floatation have on the mind?

Floating slows down the brain wave pattern to the ‘theta’ level, which is the state just before falling asleep or during sleep. This state marks total withdrawal from external world and focus on signals originating from within. In this state levels of imagery, creativity, inspirations, analysis, and clarity of the mind are at their peak. During floatation, your mind pumps out dopamine and endorphins- the neurotransmitters of happiness.

What is Epsom salt and its benefits?

Epsom salt is naturally occurring mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate. The skin readily absorbs magnesium and sulfate, making salt-baths the ideal way to enjoy health benefits. Major health benefits include skin detox, relief from aches, reduces soreness.

What if I suffer from sea or motion sickness or claustrophobic?

It is likely that you experience mild dizziness or nausea during your first float. You will get over this feeling very soon. You are in complete control of your environment, you can always open the door or leave the light on.

How many times should I float to experience the results?

Most people experience the effects after their first float itself. However, a few sessions are required until you get used to the feeling of weightlessness and sensory deprivation.

Will I get cold while floating?

Temperature maintained at skin temperature for maximum comfort. You’ll always be nice and warm.

Is there anything I should prepare for my float?

We provide fresh towels and toiletries. Avoid shaving or waxing 24 hours before your session. Avoid smoking or consumption of alcohol or caffeine before the session. Eat at least 90 minutes before floating.

What should I wear for my floating session?

Floating is to be done without wearing anything, but if you wish you can wear your swimsuit.

Any age restrictions for Floatation?

Typically, there are no age restrictions for floating, from children to elder’s anyone can float. Even pregnant woman can float, after consulting their gynec or midwife.

How long will the session last and what if I need a break from floating?

A typical session lasts for an hour – you can extend it if you like. Simply step out through the exit door. whenever you need a break.

What should I bring along for floating?

Nothing! Just yourself and an open mind! If you’d like to bring some personal items like flip flops or personal care items, you are free to do so.

How about the cleanliness of the water?

Absolute cleanliness and hygiene. Water is recirculated at least 2-3 times between each float through a micron particulate filter and treated with a combination of UV, ozone, and hydrogen peroxide.

Will I get dehydrated if I float during summer?

No, floating does no dehydrate anyone. Epsom salt has a moisturizing effect on the skin. You may have a glass of water before your session.

Can two or more people float at a time?

If you are opting for the floating pod, only you can float at a time.

What if I cannot swim, will I drown?

Floating does not require any swimming skills. The water is only around 10-12 inches deep, so you’ll be safe.

Will I be locked in while floating?

No, you are never locked while floating. You are completely in control, you can leave or stay for as long as you please.

Is it OK to fall asleep in the pod?

Yes, absolutely. In fact, deep relaxation induces sleep in some people.

What is the longest time allowed in the chamber?

Some people have spent up to 3 hours floating, some even go up to 7 hours!

Can I float when I am menstruating?

Yes, if you use a tampon or a sanitary pad.

Does floating work for everyone?

Floating may not work for everyone. You may not see immediate effects, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll come back for more. Taking the floatation with an open mind is necessary for experiencing positive effects.

Is there enough air in the tank?

Yes, the tank is not airtight. Additionally, fresh air is circulated into the chamber.

Dr. John C. Lily was the first to introduce floating as early as 1954. First commercial lay down pods were invented in the early 70s.
