What is floating?

Floating is the technique of immersing your body in a pod filled with highly concentrated Epsom Salt water that is heated to your skin temperature.  This creates an environment that is completely isolated from most external stimuli, freeing your mind. Why would you pay to do this?

One main reason is that Epsom Salt (not regular salt) available in our tanks contains magnesiuma vital mineral that our body requires. Floating in a tank of it has been proven to be the most effective way for the body to absorb magnesium.

You may ask why does this matter? Magnesium regulates your central nervous system; allowing it to regulate your cortisol (stress hormone) levels in the body. Cortisol in turn controls your stress and anxiety levels.

Another reason is with a density of 1.25 kg/mᶟ, it ensures anyone would float. This is crucial to ensure all your muscles are relaxed by temporarily neutralizing the effects of constant gravity on your body while you float. This provides much needed relief for muscles that are overworked or inflamed. The benefits of magnesium among others include: pain relief, reduced headaches, quicker recovery and improvedblood circulation.

Next would be the Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy (R.E.S.T), which in conjunction with the physical benefits of Epsom salt adds a different dimension of mental relaxation. A complete break from external stimuli, opens awareness to yourunder mind and provides a deep and calm state of reflection. In todays world, this is crucial for people to be able to effectively manage their lives with exuberance.

As the awareness of focussing on one’s mental health is becoming a more pivotal topic, floating has become an essential tool to address this in line with yoga and meditation.  Striking a balance between mental and physical stress is key to overall personal development.
